"Uptown Funk!" by British producer Mark Ronson, with guest vocals by Bruno Mars, was released on 10 November 2014 and it's the lead single for Ronson's fourth studio album, Uptown Special (2015). The song is heavily influenced by the "Minneapolis sound" of the early 80s and by funk artists and their songs, including James Brown's "Living in America", Stevie Wonder's "Superstition", Zapp's "More Bounce To The Ounce", One Way's "Cutie Pie", The Gap Band's "Oops Up Side Your Head", Earth, Wind & Fire's "Getaway", The Sequence's "Funk You Up", The Sugarhill Gang's "Apache", George Kranz's "Trommeltanz (Din Daa Daa)" and The Time's "Cool". "Uptown Funk!" was a huge commercial success, spending thirteen weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, seven weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart, and topped the charts in several other countries including France, Australia, Canada, Belgium, Ireland, and New Zealand. It's the biggest hit of the year 2015 worldwide and got a total of 13.969.000 points on the Global Chart.
